Charlie Meyrick, founder member of The Five Andrews, died on 21 May 2011.
Charlie’s open-hearted ability to find the best in anyone will leave very many people across the globe bereft of one of the warmest and most lemonly souls.

Thank you, Charlie, for your creativity, for your friendship and for all the love and goodwill you added to the world.

There will be a celebration of Charlie's artistic life at Chisenhale Dance Space in London on Saturday 18 February 2012.

The Five Andrews was originally a company of four men living in London. With the death of Charlie Meyrick in May 2011 we are now Andrew Downs, Andrew Barker and Nic Sandiland.

We have been together making performance works, around three dozen to date, since 1990.

In our performances a surreal, quietly gleeful surface is punctured and underpinned by bodiliness and suggestions of dreams.

We collaborate in ritual and delight to draw the viewer into our hypothetical lemonly realm.

Costume and visual design are important aspects of our presentations.

The atmosphere we create is often accompanied by the specially composed music of Mark Horrocks.

We devise work collaboratively under the overall direction - since about 1995 - of Andrew Barker. Andrew also designs and makes most of our costumes.

In recent years we've commissioned composer Mark Horrocks to create ambient soundscores for many of our pieces.

We've lately been collaborating making shows characteristically with improvisational elements under the direction of dancer and choreographer Kate Brown.
