A Movement/Video Research
Project, 2000
duration: Long version 13'00", short version 2'30"
Duckcheck developed out of a collaboration and research project with performer
Andrew Downs and dancer Rick Nodine.
A little toy duck and a tall man are seen walking, crawling and running
through an urban landscape. The difference in size between the protagonists
and the movement and rhythms of each generate a dramatic harmony and counterpoint.
Despite an abstract approach to the work the duck invites a narrative interpretation
of unfolding events. In a moving encounter between the protagonists the duck
becomes a decoy for human affection.
