The Lunatic Project - Umbracadabra

Description

Wearing a harness the performer is the counterweight to a theatre light, which casts a wide circle of blue light onto the floor. Lying within this light the performer wears heavy silver eyelashes, which prevent her from opening her eyes. Not being able to use her eyes she senses her environment with her hand.
Duration 3 hours.

Eyelashes: Jayne Wallace

Text written on card placed in performance space from a poem by the German romantic poet Eichendorf:

"Schläft ein Lied in allen Dingen
Die da träumen fort und fort,
Und die Welt hebt an zu singen
Triffst du nur das Zauberwort
"

Translation:
"A song sleeps in all things
Which dream here and there,
And the world would start to sing
If you found the magic word
."
